Sites for Web Design |
| |
Here's
a bunch of things you may find helpful in your own explorations
on the web.
| Webmonkey |
| |
This
is the site that I primarily look to for any advanced
web design questions, info, or news. It's the best resource
out there for web design, in my opinion. |
| Download.com |
| |
Download.com
is a great source for freeware, shareware, and trial versions
of software, especially software used for web design.
In the software section of this page there are links to
some oft-needed programs available at Download.com. If
you need something that isn't provided, go to the Download.com
web site and see if you can find it there. |

Search on Altavista |
| |
If
you are trying to find images for reference and don't
want to spend hours searching sites fruitlessly, then
maybe you should try the Image Search on Altavista. You
will quickly find what you need, if it is out there to
be had. |
| Online Butler at Ask.com |
| |
You're
probably familiar with this service thanks to television
advertisements. It's a great search engine that will help
you find exactly what you want from the very beginning. |
| google.com |
| |
Google.com
will help you find information on sites that aren't necessarily
listed with the bigger search engines like Yahoo, AltaVista,
or Ask.com. It will search all sites on the web, giving
you a better chance of finding obscure information, or
the home page of that long lost friend who isn't listed
in any other service. |
| PHP Hypertext Preprocessor Site |
| |
This
site has everything you need to know about PHP, one of
the scripting languages used often these days. I don't
use it though, so don't ask me how it works! |
| WS
FTP LE |
| |
OS:
Windows 95/98/NT
Download
the free version from Download.com. This program allows
you to transfer files directly to your internet service
provider. For those who have geocities sites, you know
what a hassle uploading files through a web site to
your own site can be.

| Dreamweaver
Demo |
| |
OS:
Windows 95/98/NT/XP
This
30-day trial will familiarize you with this excellent
program. If you are a more experienced web designer
and want to have more artistic control over your site,
this is the program you will need to learn. Give it
a try before you buy. I'm certain you will fall in love
with it once you learn a bit about it. This is what
I use to design the Magic Dance site.

A variety
of sites dealing with the philosophy, practice, and skills
in art, as well as links to galleries.

Design Sites |

These are some
cool-looking sites I and my colleagues have come across:
| Design is Kinky |
| |
Warning:
there is total attitude on this site. The entry page contains
curse words. If you can tolerate that, then enter into
a lovely site with links to artists, artwork, and how-to's
on how to create similar effects as some of the other
artists did on their work. The site is updated regularly. |

| Interactive
Sites |
| |
| Destroy Rock City |
| |
This
site has some verbal vulgarities in the form of writing.
I can't quite figure out the point of the site, other
than its ability to look pretty. The art is really amazing,
and it is different from anything I've seen. I believe
the artist who created the site also created the entry
page to Design
is Kinky. It's tre cool. |
| Beware the Robots |
| |
Wow,
I can truly say this art was created by an artist. It
is unassuming at first, but a bit of patient exploration
will have you grinning from ear to ear, that is, if you
are amused by the musings of an "intellectual"
artist. |
| Panoplie |
| |
Endless
hours of exploration into very bizarre realms. This site
has little purpose it seems... Though, it is all in French,
so maybe that's why it seems so pointless to me, but,
boy is it fun to explore. I am sure it has a great deal
of philosophy to offer for those who understand French.
Call it a visual Shockwave sketchbook of sorts. See if
you can find the insulting game of Ping Pong! |
